About Echeveria 'Morning Dew'
Echeveria 'Morning Dew' is a poetic and resilient hybrid of Echeveria pulidonis. It is highly prized by collectors for its ethereal, frosted appearance and its remarkably "easy" color-shifting nature. The rosette is tight and symmetrical, featuring plump, silvery-blue leaves protected by a thick layer of glaucous farina.
Unlike many delicate hybrids, 'Morning Dew' is relatively hardy. It inherits a strong constitution from its pulidonis parent, making it much more heat-tolerant and less likely to "melt" or fail during a hot summer. This makes it an ideal choice for growers in warmer climates or beginners looking for a "forgiving" boutique variety.
How to Care for Echeveria 'Morning Dew'
Sun/Location: This variety loves light and is very quick to show its colors. To maintain the compact shape and trigger the pink edges, provide 6–8 hours of bright sunlight. In high-light conditions, the margins will rapidly blush into a vibrant pink or peachy-red.
Soil/Pot: Even though it is hardy, it still requires a highly well-draining succulent mix (50-70% grit). Using a 4-inch terracotta or breathable ceramic pot will further help the soil dry out, ensuring the roots stay healthy through the summer heat.
Watering: Use the "soak and dry" method. Water thoroughly, then wait until the soil is completely bone-dry before the next session. Because of its hardy nature, it can handle slightly longer dry periods during the peak of summer. Always water at the base to keep the "dewy" farina coating pristine.
Propagation: Very easy to propagate via leaf cuttings or offsets. Because of its vigorous pulidonis genes, cuttings tend to root reliably, allowing you to grow your collection quickly.
