Meet your new go-to black gothic mini dress when you want “effortless” but still look like you planned it. This goth bodycon split dress is sleek, backless, and made to hug your shape in the right places. The clean silhouette + dramatic slit gives you that Y2K night-out vibe without trying too hard. Perfect for parties, club nights, edgy streetwear looks, and any “I need a fit in 5 minutes” moment.

Why You’ll Love It 🖤

🖤 Snatched bodycon fit that follows your curves without looking bulky. It gives a clean, sculpted line so your outfit looks intentional in photos. Great for styling with boots, platforms, or kitten heels. It’s the “main character” dress you can repeat and still get compliments.

🔥 Split detail that actually elevates the whole look. The slit adds movement and that subtle “dangerous cute” energy. It also helps the dress feel easier to walk and dance in. You get drama without sacrificing comfort.

Backless + minimal straps for a sleek silhouette. It’s flattering from every angle and makes layering accessories feel extra polished. Add a bold necklace or a chain belt and you’re done. This is built for mirror pics.

🕸️ Gothic meets Y2K in the most wearable way. The design is edgy, but still clean enough for everyday styling. Works for alt girls, soft grunge, dark feminine, and “minimal but spicy” wardrobes. You can dress it up or down fast.

👜 Easy to style with what you already own. Throw on a leather jacket, oversized blazer, or a fuzzy cardigan. Pair it with tights when it’s colder. One dress, a hundred outfits.

Style & Outfit Vibes 🕷️

🖤 Goth party night vibe for clubbing, birthdays, and late dinners. Style with silver jewelry, smoky makeup, and chunky boots. It looks expensive even with simple accessories. The slit adds that perfect “walk-in” drama.

🧷 Soft grunge / dark feminine for everyday fits. Add a cropped hoodie or oversized cardigan for contrast. Works with sneakers too if you want casual. Still keeps the silhouette sharp and flattering.

🪩 Y2K going-out look for photo-heavy nights. Pair with glossy lips, mini shoulder bag, and strappy heels. The clean black base makes your accessories pop. You’ll look like you belong in everyone’s camera roll.

🧥 Layer-friendly if you want more coverage. Add a sheer long-sleeve top underneath or a blazer over it. The neckline stays sleek and doesn’t bunch up. You can make it “day” or “night” instantly.

🦇 Minimal but edgy for wardrobes that hate loud prints. This is the piece that makes a whole outfit look styled. It fits aesthetic closets from alt to clean-girl-with-a-dark-side. Black always wins.

Material & Feel 🧵

This dress is made from a cotton + polyester blend designed to feel smooth against the skin while keeping the shape structured. It has a soft, lightweight hand-feel that works well for warm weather and indoor events. The fabric sits close to the body and keeps a clean silhouette. It’s comfortable enough for hours, not just “stand still and look pretty” minutes.

The blend helps reduce the “see-through stress” and keeps the dress looking polished. It’s easy to style because it doesn’t look overly shiny or overly matte. The dress holds the bodycon line nicely for photos. If you want an extra-snatched look, seamless underwear works best.

Sizes & Fit 📏

Size S: Bust about 27.6 in (70 cm), waist about 23.6 in (60 cm), hips about 30.7 in (78 cm). Dress length is about 28.3 in (72 cm)

Size M: Bust about 29.1 in (74 cm), waist about 25.2 in (64 cm), hips about 32.3 in (82 cm). Dress length is about 28.7 in (73 cm)

Size L: Bust about 31.5 in (80 cm), waist about 27.6 in (70 cm), hips about 34.6 in (88 cm). Dress length is about 29.1 in (74 cm)

Fit tip: This is a bodycon mini. If you want a tighter “snatched” look, choose your usual size. If you want more movement for dancing or a slightly relaxed fit, size up.

Care Instructions 🧼

Wash before first wear for the best feel. Use a cold, gentle wash and turn the dress inside out to protect the surface. Avoid harsh bleach or aggressive heat that can stress the fabric. Low heat drying or air drying keeps the fit looking fresh longer.

Perfect For 🪩

Club nights, parties, birthdays, concerts, and “going out” looks. Date nights when you want a confident silhouette. Streetwear styling with boots and a jacket. Giftable for anyone who loves gothic, Y2K, alt fashion, or dark feminine outfits.

Brilliant
Format: Hardcover
The First State of Being is a brilliant, highly readable middle grade book from the QUEEN of character-driven middle grade literature. This expansive sci-fi feels at once introspective and cinematic, leaping off the page like something made for a movie. This book will help young people and all readers reflect on our past and future as a human community, especially in terms of health advances, animal extinction, and the potential for technological development. It also highlights the love and fight in a mother and the need to view life through a positive lens by focusing most on the present, not our past or future.

Which Came First?
Format: Hardcover
Of course this won the Newberry award. From the first word, it reminded me of Donna Barba Higuera's The Last Cuentista. A plot so different and imaginative that you wonder how anyone could have thought of it and then carried it out. It's a story of a young boy who is trying to take care of the single mother who seems unable to take care of the family, through no fault of her own. It's a sci-fi fantasy. And it's a story of taking care of each other. At the totally satisfying end I found myself wondering about the chicken and the egg. Thinking I may have to read this one again to see if I can figure it out.

Well-written, twisty novel for middle school children
Format: Kindle
This is Kelly’s second Newbery Medal, the first being for *Hello, Universe* in 2018. Both are well-written novels for middle-grade children and should have a lot of appeal for that age. It's the year 1999, early fall, an apartment complex in Delaware. 12-year-old Michael is worried that the Y2K bug will cause the collapse of civilization on January 1, 2000. He has been stealing cans of food to create an emergency stash under his bed. He has started a new school, and his only friends are the apartment complex maintenance man and his high-school-age after-school babysitter, Gibby. Michael’s father is dead, and his mother works long hours to make ends meet. One day a strange kid shows up in the complex, dressed in unusual clothing and asking odd questions like, “What year is this?” It doesn’t take an experienced science fiction reader to suspect that this kid, Ridge, is from the future. He is interested in observing late 20th Century American culture. But he also wants Michael and Gibby to help him figure out how to get back to the future without interfering with the past and thus changing his own timeline. The 1999 part of the story is interspersed with notes about the future and the panicked dialog of Ridge’s family as they try to investigate what happened to him. It probably doesn’t have many new ideas for adult readers, but it will be surprising and exciting for readers ages 12 and up
